CLASS TIME: at student's convenience

OFFICE HOURS: by e-mail and online as scheduled

QUIZZES: Take each quiz sequentially before its due date. You may start taking quizzes as soon as you are able to access them. To insure you do not have computer problems that prevent you from completing a quiz on time, plan to complete each quiz as early as possible. Each quiz is due at midnight on the date listed below in the assignment schedule. If you take a quiz early and are confident that you could improve your score with more study, you may repeat the quiz one time before the deadline. Know that if you elect this option, you will get a different exam and the score you earn on the new exam will replace that earned on the first attempt. Thus, you should not repeat an exam casually.

MAKE-UP QUIZZES: If you miss the due date for any quizz, for example due to a computer failure, you will have a one day grace period to resolve this problem. You must notify the instructor immediately by e-mail if this occurs so that the quiz can be reset. If you experience any problems whatsoever when taking a quiz during the grace period the only possible resolution is to take a makeup quiz. After the grace period you can replace a missed or faulty quiz only with a make-up quiz. Take each make-up quiz sequentially before the due date. You may take a make-up quiz ONLY if you did not complete the regularly scheduled quiz for a topic. If a makeup and regularly scheduled quiz are both taken for any chapter, only the lower score will be counted. Note that makeup quizzes may be more difficult than regular quizzes and you can only score a maximum of about 80% of the replaced quizz's points on a makeup quiz. If problems of any type prevent a student from completing a quiz during the grace period he or she must take the makeup quiz.

RESEARCH PROJECT: Select a publicly traded company, examine its beta value using R, then compare your findings with alternatives. Complete your assessment and explain it within 2 to 3 pages. Include a proper bibliography of sources within those pages.

GRADE DETERMINATION: The final course grade earned will be determined by the series of quizzes (40%) a research project (20%) and a comprehensive final exam (40% points). The point distribution shown below will be used in determining final grades
