Scenario 3: Sustainable Development Occurs

NEPAD works to develop a strategic plan of action with plausible steps that require deliberate and specific actions that are needed by the outside community in order to prevent Scenario 1.

Entities like the African Union show that African leaders are taking the initiative to influence organizations like the WTO and World Bank to take them seriously by giving them a specific set of objectives. Rather than simply complaining and proposing large unattainable goals like eliminating poverty without steps to get there, the African leaders would take the initiative to aid themselves and lay out what they need.

While facts may be lacking, it is inevitable that with the rise of globalization, the global economy will give the untapped resources of Africa a role to play in the economic affairs of the world.
