Global Governance
Scenario 1:
In this scenario, not much changes with regards to global
governance. The UN remains the only real multi-purpose IGO, but has little
power and doesn’t use the little power it does have. Nations continue to
attempt to solve their problems unilaterally when they can, and when they
can’t, they use as little cooperation as they need. The EU, the AU and
other regional IGOs never achieve their full potential. International problems
tend to go relatively unchecked. NGOs still make the most impact with regards
to efforts to solve problems, but are still fundamentally limited to whatever
powers states will afford them. The Security Council will still remain
relatively hampered by the veto.
