Global Governance

Introduction

What is Global Governance?

Global Governance is not government but rather an international framework of principles, rules and laws, and the set of institutions that uphold them, which are needed to tackle global problems.

Five Key Domains of Global Public Policy

-         Promotion of International Financial Stability

-         Creation and Enforcement of Rules in International Trade

-         The fight against global infectious diseases

-         Elimination of the exploitation of child labor

-         Promotion of basic human rights to physical security

As a class we have covered each of these topics individually but global governance is the method by which attempts by nations to tackle these problems are created.  There are multiple paths by which Nation States can take in order to come to a consensus on the issues above mentioned.  However, there is much descent about the amount of sovereignty needed to give up maintaining the effectiveness of these methods.  In the end the future of global governance is subject to how progressive nations become in regards to sovereignty and transnational agreements.
