PROBLEM 47

In the figure on the right each of the six plates is joined to its neighbors by two hinges in the same plane at right angles to each other. If one link is held fixed, all the others can undergo motion simutaneously, though not entirely independently. The blocks are labeled from A to F on one side, in red, and from a to f on the other side, in blue. If block A is held fixed, and the block B is rotated through a right angle about that hinge, what will be the orientation of all the other blocks?
