My Extended Family

My grandfather homesteaded land in western Oklahoma. My family moved to the "home place" in 1947, when I was three years old. We raised wheat, oats, barley, alfalfa, and occasionally cotton and corn. We also raised beef cattle, hogs, and chickens, and we always had a few dairy cattle.

I have four brothers and one sister, all of whom are older than I am. The following pictures were taken after our father's funeral in 1998.

Jack and his wife Suzanne live in Gainesville, Florida. Both recently retired from the University of Florida.

Lyle and his wife Lillian live in Jones, Oklahoma near Oklahoma City. Lyle is retired from the Air Force.

Elgin and his wife Elaine live in Holly Springs, North Carolina. Elgin is retired from working for the U.S. Government and sells real estate part-time.

Mary and her husband Lyle Lee live in Custer, Oklahoma. They have retired after owning a convenience store/gasoline station/restaurant in Custer for many years.

Finally someone who is still working! Walter and his wife Kay live in Kiowa, Kansas. Walter is a Vice President of First State Bank in Kiowa.

Lois and I live in Peoria, Illinois where we both work at Bradley University.
