What Does SECI Do?

SECI provides solar energy collectors designed by Dr. Safdari. SECI offers any or all of the following solar heating services:

  • Consulting

  • Residential or Commercial applications

  • Air or water heating

  • Supervise Installation

  • Grain drying

How Does SECI Do It?

By utilizing solar collectors of high efficiency together with system components selected by SECI experts for transmission, storage of solar energy, SECI systems maximize overall performance and minimize cost. Collectors and components can be varied to suit budget requirements. The SECI "Eureka Solar House" demonstrates a typical water system in operation.

MYTHS AND FACTS

ABOUT SOLAR HEATING

MYTH:    "We have no energy crisis."

FACT:      The very real "Energy Crisis" is only temporarily out of the headlines. Our present energy sources, fossil fuels (oil, gas, coal), are indeed running out. At the present rate of increase, the U.S. energy consumption will double in 15 years.

Recent articles, charts and book lists are available from SECI.

MYTH: "Nuclear energy is the answer."

FACT: Solar and nuclear are generally agreed among government and industrial "experts" to be the two major energy sources to solve our energy dilemma. If you are uninformed on the potential hazards within a 100 mile radius of a nuclear reactor, please take the time to read some of the abundant articles now available on the subject.

Solar heating does not pollute our air or water and its use will not strip the land. The hazards are virtually nil. No government or industry can effect the price or availability of solar energy!

MYTH: "Solar Heating is 10 years away."

FACT: Solar air and water heating has been utilized for years! 12,000,000 solar heaters warm water in the U.S. as well as Japan and Australia. In the French Pyrenees, a solar furnace is producing temperatures up to 3500' for industrial use. Many residences and commercial buildings across the country are currently heated by solar systems. The Federal Government has its own demonstration program to include more than 4000 solar installations over the next two years! The technology is relatively simple. Only the recent exposure of our fossil fuel shortage and dwindling world supply has brought prices in line and forced the question of how long conventional heating systems can be fueled.

MYTH: "Solar Heating isn't practical in the Midwest".

FACT: U. S. Weather Bureau data on solar radiation show that practical solar heating can be accomplished in the Mid-west. SECI systems can provide up to 70% of the heating requirement. (Keep in mind that a supplementary heating system must always be used with solar heating due to heat storage limitations on consecutive cloudy days). And 70% of a Mid-west heating bill represents a large annual cost savings! Texas may get more sun, but how much heating is needed in Texas?

MYTH: "The cost of solar heating is prohibitive".

FACT: The price of a solar heating system is determined by variables such as type of building and desired system capability. But total cost" includes more than price. Cost of operation, today and tomorrow, must be considered. Solar energy is free and inexhaustible. Fuel prices are fast increasing and, more important, what do you do if you (or your utility) can't get the needed fuel?

The initial cost of a solar heating system can be justified by life cycle cost analysis. The pay back time is within a reasonable number of years.
